Brian Safina, PhD

Brian Safina, PhD, is Senior Vice President, Discovery Research at Bolt Biotherapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel immuno-oncology therapeutics for the treatment of cancer. Dr. Safina has over 18 years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. In his role at Bolt, Dr. Safina leads fully integrated, multidisciplinary teams working to discover, develop and commercialize transformative treatments aimed at addressing key unmet medical needs for patients with cancer. Prior to joining Bolt, Dr. Safina served in roles of increasing responsibility at Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, in discovery chemistry. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to the discovery and development of multiple clinical candidates across a range of modalities and disease areas. He has published more than 34 papers and is co-inventor on more than 50 granted patents and patent applications. Dr. Safina holds a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of California, San Diego.
